We’re Hiring: Freelance Event Planner + Lead Designer
We’re looking for a Freelance Event Planner & Lead Designer to support our production company across community events, brand activations, showcases, family programming, and other special events for our primary client.
We’re a small but fast-growing team currently supporting a very demanding and high-volume client, with additional events and projects continuing to grow. Because of this, we’re looking to expand our team with someone who can jump in creatively and operationally to help support both planning and onsite execution.
This role will work in tandem with the Executive Producer and Producer to help bring events from concept to execution. We’re looking for someone highly design-forward with a STRONG eye for aesthetics, current event trends, spatial design, branding, and guest experience. Someone who almost thinks like an interior designer for events and environments.
A major part of this role will focus on graphic design and event design needs, including:
- Event aesthetics and environmental design
- Signage, print materials, and branded graphics
- Basic graphics for print needs and AV/screens
- Mood boards and visual storytelling
- Guest flow and spatial layouts
- Furniture, décor, lighting, and styling direction
- Creating elevated and cohesive visual experiences
- Translating concepts into visuals fabrication and production teams can execute from
We’re looking for someone who naturally notices details, understands how environments make people feel, and can help elevate the overall visual language of our events.
Responsibilities include:
- Event planning and production support
- Lead creative direction and event aesthetics
- Graphic design, signage, print production, and AV graphic coordination
- Mood boards, decks, and visual presentations
- Basic renderings and spatial mockups
- Guest experience and environmental design
- Vendor, décor, rental, and fabrication coordination
- Supporting installs, load-ins, and onsite logistics
- Executing events onsite as Lead Producer when needed
- Managing timelines, vendors, and troubleshooting during live events
Ideal experience includes:
- Experiential events, hospitality, festivals, education, or brand activations
- Event planning and creative production
- Strong graphic design and visual communication skills
- Working with fabrication teams, rental vendors, florals, AV, lighting, and scenic builds
- Signage and environmental graphics
- Building layouts, visual references, and basic renderings
- Strong communication and onsite leadership skills
Helpful programs/tools:
- Canva
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Figma
- SketchUp or rendering software
- Google Suite / project management tools
Bonus points for:
- Austin events or hospitality experience
- Experience working in education or family-focused events
- Scenic/fabrication coordination knowledge
- Social/content design skills
- 3D rendering capabilities
Details:
- Rate $40 - $50/hr (30-40hrs weekly)
- Additional onsite event day rates provided
- Freelance / contract role (Ideally a 12 Month Commitment)
- Remote position with flexibility to be onsite for event days and site visits as needed
- Must have own car + license
- Primarily Austin + Central Texas based, with possible travel for select events
- Looking for someone who can start immediately
- Bonus points if you're available during event days from May 28th through June 6th
