Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Graphic Designer to support large-format print art production for luxury event environments. This contract role is ideal for a technically proficient designer who understands how to translate creative direction into production-ready artwork at scale — including oversized backdrops, wallpaper panels, vinyl wraps, textile prints, stage graphics, signage, and dimensional installations.
The designer must be comfortable working at extreme scale (10ft–40ft+), preparing accurate print files, managing color profiles, and coordinating with print vendors to ensure flawless execution.
This is a hybrid, project-based contract role with tight turnaround times and high aesthetic standards.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Execution
- Translate creative direction into polished, production-ready large-format artwork
- Design custom:
- Event backdrops (fabric, vinyl, rigid panels)
- Wallpaper and scenic panel wraps
- Stage facades and bar wraps
- Floor graphics
- Branded signage and environmental graphics
- Custom pattern development (repeat patterns, ombré blends, murals)
- Maintain brand integrity and cohesive visual storytelling across all deliverables
Technical Production
- Prepare press-ready files for large-format printing
- Build files to exact specifications (bleed, trim, safe zones, panelization, scaling ratios)
- Understand DPI requirements at full scale vs. scaled production files
- Manage color profiles (CMYK, RGB, Pantone matching where applicable)
- Prepare layered, organized working files for internal revisions
- Ensure correct file types (TIFF, PDF/X, EPS, vector AI files, etc.)
- Develop seamless repeat patterns for large wall installations
- Create accurate mockups and scaled renderings for client presentation
Vendor Coordination
- Review printer templates and mechanical specifications
- Adjust files to meet vendor material constraints (fabric stretch, vinyl shrinkage, tile breaks, seam allowances)
- Provide print proofs and preflight checks before final production
- Troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with print partners
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of professional graphic design experience
- Demonstrated experience with large-format print production
- Advanced proficiency in: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop & Adobe InDesign
- Strong understanding of: Raster vs. vector workflows, Large-scale DPI scaling, CMYK color management, & Print bleed and mechanical setup
- Experience working with print vendors and understanding production limitations
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple concurrent projects
- Strong file organization and naming discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in event design, experiential marketing, scenic design, or environmental graphics
- Experience preparing files for:
- Fabric printing (dye-sublimation)
- Vinyl wraps
- Wallpaper production
- Large-format UV printing
- Familiarity with 3D render workflows (Cinema4D, SketchUp, or similar)
- Experience working at luxury brand aesthetic standards
- Understanding of installation considerations (panel breaks, sightlines, scale distortion)

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
