Freelance Graphic Designer & Marketing Assistant (Project-Based | Remote | Flexible Hours)

We’re on the hunt for a talented **freelance graphic designer** who also likes to play in the marketing communications/social media space, to partner with us on a gig-by-gig basis - with the opportunity to own repeating tasks and work product. We're looking for someone to be an important external, flexible, long-term asset to our team! This is a flexible opportunity for a creative pro who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is comfortable jumping in to deliver sharp, high-quality work under tight timelines. You should be able to take on design projects as they arise — sometimes with hours’ notice, often with 1-3 days' lead time. You will also work independently after an initial alignment and handoff, but also very collaboratively until you master the "voice" and vibe of the organization. The ideal candidate will be REALLY available and VERY responsive! This is a 1099 contractor position.

Section 1: Core Graphic Design Skills

• Adobe Suite

• Microsoft Office Suite for Mac OS

• Reading floor plans and finish plans

• Google Sheets

• Microsoft Teams

• Dropbox

Section 2: Core Marketing Skills

• PowerPoint

• Installation slides, including photo editing

• Artist slides, including design and photo editing

• Off Site slides, showcasing marketing milestones from the prior month

• Setting up project slides per the company standards

• Creating content for LinkedIn and Instagram

• Email marketing e-blasts (MailChimp)

• Content is text AND visuals

• Adding and managing MailChimp client list

Section 3: What You’ll Do

• Editing digital files in Illustrator or Photoshop for art consulting firm clients

• Editing vector files

• Using photoshop editing photographic files very forensically (i.e. “Remove the shadow on this leaf”)

• Setting up and creating plaques that go beside art pieces

• Designing montages

• Morphing photographic landscape images into an Illustrator graphic with flat shapes creating the final image

• Creating custom graphics for jobs

• Creating vector graphics from scratch

• Creating custom graphic design art pieces with client direction/consultant guidance

• Photoshop custom graphics

• Digital illustration

If you’re still reading, then you must be truly interested! Here’s a plus - ideally we are looking for someone to dedicate most of the time to graphic design projects which average about 5-10 hours per week. However, if you have the capacity, our additional needs can potentially keep you busy for 20 or more hours per week during the busy season (October – February).

Portfolio Required

This is non-negotiable — think dating app, but for design. Show us your best work! We are especially looking for:

· Before and after examples of your custom graphic manipulations/edits

· Digital illustration examples

· Any examples you have demonstrating tasks in the Section 1, Section 2, or Section 3 of this posting

Pay

$35-$60/hr., depending on portfolio and experience

Timeline

· Resume Reviews & Finalists Selected: week of September 29th

· Mandatory Pre-Hiring Seminar for Finalist: Monday, October 6th @ 2pm PST (a virtual introduction to the team, the company, and an opportunity to ask questions)

· Finalists Interviews: week of October 13th

· Hire & Start Date: week of October 20th
