Freelance Graphic & Web Designer (Part-Time / Contract)

Whirlwind is a digital marketing agency helping companies stand out online with strategy-driven content, paid advertising, SEO, website development, and creative campaigns. We work with clients in industries ranging from technology to manufacturing, and we’re looking for a talented freelance graphic & web designer to join our team on a project basis.

The Role

We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented designer who can bring brand stories to life through engaging visuals across both social media and web.

You’ll work primarily in Canva for social media design and collaborate on website design projects including landing pages, full website builds, and ongoing site updates. You should be comfortable balancing creativity with brand consistency and understanding how design supports marketing performance.

Responsibilities

• Design social media graphics and templates in Canva based on creative briefs and brand guidelines
• Adapt designs across multiple platforms and formats (e.g., square, vertical, carousel)
• Design website layouts, landing pages, and web graphics that align with brand and conversion goals
• Collaborate with our team on website builds (WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, or similar platforms – depending on experience)
• Ensure all visuals align with client branding, tone, and messaging
• Work closely with content, paid ads, and account teams to support campaign objectives
• Manage deadlines and deliver projects on time
• Stay current with design trends in both social media and web design

Requirements

• Proven experience designing for social media (portfolio required)
• Experience designing websites or landing pages (portfolio examples required)
• Strong proficiency in Canva
• Familiarity with website platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, or Shopify
• Understanding of UX/UI best practices and conversion-focused design
• Strong eye for typography, color, layout, and hierarchy
• Reliable, responsive, and able to manage multiple projects at once
• Experience working with B2B brands is a plus
