Freelance Social Media Content Creator with Science Background (Remote)

About the Role
We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented Freelance Social Media Content Creator with a background in the biological sciences to join our boutique marketing and strategy agency. We work with small business and non-profits to turn ideas into engaging blog posts and social content. We’re currently looking for help supporting a small biology research foundation and a small biotech company. This role is fully remote and project-based (work will come in batches rather than on a strict weekly schedule).

If you love brainstorming, writing, and designing posts that tell a story — and you’re comfortable working independently after a Zoom chat — this could be a great fit.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate over Zoom to brainstorm content themes and campaigns.
• Write blog posts with SEO keywords (it’s fine to use AI - but it needs to be edited so that it’s engaging and personalized)
• Generate social media post ideas from blog content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
• Source images / graphics.
• Create engaging social posts in Canva (graphics, carousels, reels ideas, etc.).
• Pitch and develop other creative post ideas (fun, seasonal, or community-driven).
• Help us create posts and content that you’d like to see in your own feed.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (fluent English required).
• Background in the biological sciences.
• Experience with Canva and familiarity with stock photo sourcing.
• Basic understanding of SEO for blog writing. (We will provide the keyword research if you are unfamiliar with the process.)
• Organized, reliable, and able to manage deadlines independently.
• Comfortable working remotely and communicating clearly with a distributed team.
• We’re okay with creatives that use AI tools - as long as it’s done with thought and care. We want to get results for our clients — slapdash AI garbage doesn’t work.

Pay

• $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience.
• Workload will vary — expect batches of work rather than consistent weekly hours.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
