Job Title: Freelance Global Social Manager

Location: New York, NY

Reports to: EVP Global Marketing & Comms



The Role

McCann is seeking a Freelance Global Social Manager to join the Corporate Communications team. This role is responsible for owning and evolving McCann and McCann New York's organic social strategy, driving brand alignment across global, regional, and local channels, and serving as the primary coordinator across the network's social presence.



What You Will Do

Strategy & Planning

  • Own and develop McCann and McCann New York's organic social strategy, maintaining an active presence across all major platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube
  • Create, build and maintain a global social content calendar covering creative work, thought leadership, culture, Truth Central, impact and awards
  • Plan ahead around key dates, milestones, announcements, and campaigns to present McCann as a cohesive global network
  • Provide a point of view on engaging with new channels and maximizing evolutions to existing platforms
  • Help develop social tone of voice and evolve, as needed

Content Creation & Publishing

  • Design assets, write captions, and publish posts in line with the company's tone of voice
  • Create engaging content across all major platforms, including simple graphics, images, and animation
  • Partner with additional design and production resources as needed; assist in sourcing and commissioning appropriate talent
  • Concept, pitch and brief innovative social content and content series

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Coordinate content planning with McCann's Director of Communications to ensure social and comms are fully aligned
  • Liaise with and provide strategic social guidance to regional and local social leads, aligning with the global calendar and tentpole events like Cannes Lions
  • Consult with local offices to improve their agency social presence and advise on best practice
  • Assist key McCann leaders with their social content
  • Annual auditing of local social channels
  • Liaise with reps from social platforms to troubleshoot issues/source solutions, as needed

Reporting

  • Establish a regular reporting framework to monitor, track, analyze and report on performance, optimizing content strategy accordingly

Community Management

  • Community management: on a high level, monitor and engage with the online community across social, responding to comments and messages in a timely, brand-aligned way. Foster positive interactions and flag key feedback or issues to the team.



Who You Are

  • 5 to 7 years' experience running social for an agency
  • Collaborative team player confident in liaising with senior leadership
  • Able to work at the speed of social, spotting trends, opportunities, and potential risks
  • Curious about the broader business with the ability to conceive and implement social content that supports business objectives
  • Culturally sensitive with strong instincts for staying on top of new features, trends and platform developments
  • General knowledge of the advertising and marketing landscape
