Freelance Social Media Manager & Graphic Designer

We’re seeking a skilled freelancer to manage our social media strategy, daily engagement, and graphic design projects.

Responsibilities

Social Media

• Create engaging copy for social media posts and secure approvals from the VP of Marketing and stakeholders.
• Manage the content calendar to align with organizational priorities.
• Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and engagement across platforms.
• Collaborate with our Digital Media Producer on media selection and creative direction.
• Develop innovative strategies to grow followers and engagement.
• Manage multiple platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn.

Graphic Design

• Execute brand-aligned designs including flyers, concert programs, digital signage, email/web/social graphics, and paid ads.
• Create simple departmental collateral for fundraising, education, and executive teams.
• Work with the Digital Media Producer to source appropriate imagery.
• Draft or refine copy for designed assets.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in social media management and strategy.
• Strong portfolio in graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar).
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to incorporate feedback effectively.
• Familiarity with arts, education, or nonprofit organizations a plus.
• Based in the Washington, DC area preferred.

• Type: Freelance/Contract
• Location: Remote with preference for candidates local to the DC metro area (potential for occasional onsite work).
• Compensation: Commensurate with experience (please provide hourly rate or project fee range).
