Freelance Tax Professional

About the Opportunity

I own a growing bookkeeping business in historic downtown Burlington, and I’m looking to partner with an experienced freelance tax professional to support my clients when their needs go beyond bookkeeping—specifically tax preparation, tax strategy, payroll guidance, and general compliance questions.

This is an independent contractor role, not employment. You will set your own rates, bill your own clients, and maintain full control of your workload. You’re welcome to bring your own clients, and you are not limited to working only with mine.

What I Provide

• A professional office space available for client appointments
• Referrals from my existing bookkeeping clients who need tax or payroll support
• A collaborative working relationship with clear communication and mutual respect
• Flexibility — only come into the office for scheduled client meetings; all other work can be done remotely

What You’ll Do

• Provide tax preparation and filing services for individuals and small businesses
• Offer tax planning, compliance guidance, and general tax-related support
• Assist clients with payroll-related questions and compliance (as applicable to your expertise)
• Meet with referred clients in the office when needed
• Maintain your own client relationships, billing, and scheduling
• Communicate professionally and promptly with both clients and myself when coordinating shared work

Who You Are

• A licensed tax professional
• Knowledgeable in small business taxation, payroll basics, and compliance
• Comfortable working independently and managing your own client load
• Professional, reliable, and client‑focused

Compensation

• You set your own rates
• You bill your own clients directly
• No payroll, no W‑2 — this is a true independent contract
