Freelance Designer — Implement Now

Franklin, TN | Contracted | Remote

Implement Now is a Nashville-based global production and creative agency that brings brands to life through thoughtful design, sourcing, and execution. We partner with global clients to create elevated, custom products across apparel, accessories, home goods, hard goods, packaging, and branded merchandise.

We are seeking a Freelance / Contract Technical Designer to support our Design and Sourcing teams on an as-needed, project-based basis. This role is perfect for someone who is highly technical, fast, detail-oriented, and able to jump into multi-category projects with clear execution and quick turnaround.

About the Role

As a contract Technical Designer, you will support our internal teams by producing accurate tech packs, updating specs, reviewing samples, and communicating technical details for vendor-ready documentation. You’ll work across categories depending on project needs, delivering clean, production-ready files and clear construction notes.

This is not a full-time role — it is ideal for someone who excels in project-based work, fast deadlines, and technical precision.

Key Responsibilities

Create and update factory-ready tech packs, including construction details, measurements, callouts, BOMs, artwork, and trim information.

  • Translate design sketches, concepts, and inspiration into accurate technical documents.
  • Update graded specs and measurement charts when needed.
  • Review prototypes, samples, and TOPs; provide clear technical comments.
  • Annotate images and sample photos with construction notes and corrections.
  • Communicate technical clarifications to internal teams or vendors when directed by Design/Sourcing.
  • Ensure all files are organized, accurate, and delivered on schedule

Qualifications

  • Required 2–4+ years experience as a Technical Designer, Apparel Product Developer, or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of garment construction & multi-category product development
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (required)
  • Strong technical understanding of apparel construction; multi-category experience is a plus
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal revisions
  • Experience reviewing samples and documenting fit/quality notes
  • Strong communication and file-organization skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects

Preferred

  • Experience in apparel, promotional products, branded merchandise, or hard goods development
  • Experience working with overseas vendors
  • Familiarity with PLM or spec-management systems
