Freelance Technical Documentation & Data Visualization Specialist (English) About the Company
We're looking for a highly skilled freelancer to craft clear, accurate, and user friendly technical and training documentation in English. You will synthesize information from multiple, sometimes ambiguous sources and translate it into well structured content, supported by precise visuals (charts, diagrams, tables). You will collaborate with stakeholders who may be unsure how to articulate their needs and will drive clarity through requirements gathering, iterative feedback, and rapid revisions.
About the Role Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Training Content Creation
- Draft, edit, and format technical documents: SOPs, runbooks, system/process documentation, implementation guides, user manuals, FAQs, and training materials.
- Create instructor led and self paced training content (slides, handouts, quick reference guides, job aids).
- Maintain version control and document history; ensure consistency across materials.
- Build clear charts, tables, and diagrams from disparate, messy data sources.
- Choose appropriate visualization types (e.g., bar, line, Pareto, Sankey, swimlanes, ERD, process maps).
- Validate data integrity; annotate assumptions and methodologies.
- Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead structured interviews/workshops to elicit requirements and clarify ambiguous inputs.
- Translate "fuzzy" problem statements into concrete documentation plans and outlines.
- Quality, Consistency & Compliance
- Apply style guides and templates; enforce terminology consistency and accessibility best practices.
- Run content quality checks (accuracy, completeness, readability, visual clarity).
- Align with change management processes (e.g., approvals, impact notes, release notes).
- Delivery & Accountability
- Manage timelines and deliverables; communicate status and blockers proactively.
- Work quickly and reliably under pressure; meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Maintain secure handling of confidential materials.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- Language & Writing: Near native level English writing proficiency; ability to explain complex topics simply.
- Technical Documentation: 3-5+ years creating technical/training docs or equivalent portfolio quality.
- Visualization & Data: Strong skills in creating charts/diagrams from multiple sources; sound data literacy.
- Stakeholder Skills: Proven capability to extract requirements from non technical or unclear inputs.
- Process & Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; experience with Visio or equivalent diagramming tools; SharePoint/OneDrive for collaboration.
- Work Style: Reliable, fast, organized, highly accountable; comfortable with high pressure deadlines.
- Preferred Skills
- Document Quality Control: Style guide enforcement, proofreading, QA checklists.
- Change Management: Exposure to versioning, release notes, RACI, approval workflows.
- Business Analysis: Process mapping, requirements elicitation, UAT support, gap analysis.
- Advanced Tools: Power BI or Tableau, Confluence, Lucidchart/Miro.
Pay range and compensation package
