Position Overview

We are seeking experienced freelance Technical Production Specialists across Audio, Video, and Lighting disciplines to support live events, broadcast productions, and installations. This role is ideal for highly skilled technicians who specialize in one or more areas and are comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative production environments.
This is a freelance, as-needed position. Candidates will be considered for Audio (A1/A2), Video (V1), and/or Lighting (L1) assignments based on experience and project requirements.
We are a highly collaborative company—team members are encouraged to expand their skillsets and gain exposure across multiple technical disciplines including audio, video, lighting, and scenic production.
Core Responsibilities (All Disciplines)
- Execute the setup, operation, and strike of technical systems for live events and productions
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Directors, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution
- Interpret and follow production documentation including signal flow diagrams, patch sheets, and system layouts
- Troubleshoot technical issues efficiently in high-pressure, live environments
- Assist across departments when primary responsibilities are complete
- Maintain organized workflows and ensure proper handling and storage of equipment
- Adhere to safety standards related to rigging, power distribution, and equipment handling
- Work flexible schedules including long hours, nights, and weekends as required
- Lift and handle technical and scenic equipment (50+ lbs)
- Perform additional duties as assigned by production leadership
Audio (A1 / A2) – Responsibilities
- Operate professional 32+ channel digital audio consoles (DiGiCo, Yamaha, Allen & Heath, Midas, Avid, etc.)
- Mix Front of House (FOH) and monitors for live events
- Oversee and execute show-specific cues as directed by the show caller or outlined in the run-of-show, including audio and video playback.
- Manage complex signal flow, routing, and system patching across analog and digital environments
- Deploy and operate line array systems with a strong understanding of speaker placement fundamentals
- Tune systems and “EQ” environments to minimize feedback and optimize acoustic performance
- Configure and manage digital audio networks (Dante, MADI, USB)
- Execute RF coordination and deploy wireless microphone systems
- Properly place and manage multiple lavalier and wireless microphone systems in live environments
- Utilize industry software including SMAART, QLab, Dante Controller, and Wireless Workbench
- Troubleshoot wired and wireless communication systems
Audio Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of digital audio consoles and live mixing techniques
- Strong understanding of signal flow, gain structure, EQ, compression, and system optimization
- Proficiency in Dante and digital audio networking
- Experience with RF coordination and wireless system deployment
- Background in live event production or broadcast audio environments
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Video (V1) – Responsibilities
- Execute live video switching, camera operation, and signal routing for live and streamed events
- Build, configure, and operate LED video wall systems including processing, mapping, and calibration
- Design and deploy projection display systems based on event requirements
- Run and manage playback media content in coordination with live switching workflows
- Configure and operate video systems including processors, routers, and distribution infrastructure
- Perform system setup including cabling, wiring, and hardware integration
- Troubleshoot AV systems including signal flow, hardware, software, and networked components
- Conduct visual and technical QC checks before and during events
- Operate cameras and capture live footage as required
- Assist with installation and strike of technical systems, scenic elements, and infrastructure
Video Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in live video production, broadcast, or AV environments
- Strong understanding of video signal flow (SDI, HDMI, fiber, IP-based systems)
- Experience with LED wall systems, video processors, and playback platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot complex video and AV systems in real time
- Familiarity with camera operation and live production workflows
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Lighting (L1) – Responsibilities
- Design, program, and operate lighting systems using DMX, Art-Net, and related protocols
- Operate lighting consoles including GrandMA2, ETC, and Hog systems
- Install and integrate lighting systems including fixtures, truss, rigging, power, and network infrastructure
- Execute show cues, spotlight operation, and real-time adjustments
- Adapt console programming, patching, and presets based on production needs
- Perform troubleshooting of lighting systems and control networks
- Assemble custom lighting elements including LED tape and practical fixtures
- Support onsite leadership and coordinate with production teams
- Ensure compliance with rigging and electrical safety standards
Lighting Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of lighting experience in live production or related environments
- Proficiency with GrandMA2, ETC, and Hog consoles
- Strong knowledge of DMX, Art-Net, and lighting control systems
- Experience with rigging, truss systems, and event power distribution
- Working knowledge of lighting fixtures, networking, and electrical systems
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and physically demanding conditions

Additional Information
- This is a freelance / as-needed position and does not guarantee consistent scheduling
- Availability will be requested based on upcoming production needs
- Candidates may be selected for one or multiple disciplines based on experience
- Cross-disciplinary experience is highly valued and may increase booking opportunities
Pay: $250.00 - $1,000.00 per day
