JOB SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for:
- Reviewing documents of incoming shipments for final destination and mode of transportation (i.e. ocean, air, domestic vs. international).
- Reviewing said documents to ensure they are complete and qualify for transport and invoicing.
- The routing of freight to the final destination.
- Data entry into the billing system.
- Rating of invoices for revenue generation.
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Billing Manager
Supervises: No one.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives documents at the Receiving Window and determines whether they are complete. Incomplete documentation is returned to the delivering person(s), and a request is made to obtain missing information.
- Traces in the system for existing orders on all shipments are presented at the Receiving Window.
- Updates existing orders and creates new orders information from documents received at the Receiving Window.
- Places any shipments on Ops hold that are not ok to load (i.e. consolidations, seize freight, etc).
- Confirms destination is correct and routes freight by printing the Routing Instructions.
- Analyzes the BOL to ensure all purchase orders are entered on the freight bill.
- Creates new and updates existing accounts when current information is not found and/or incorrect in the billing system.
- Follow and maintain the company’s Quality Policy & Procedures.
AUTHORITY:
- Determining the ultimate destination of a shipment.
- Can hold freight if improper or inadequate information or hazardous information is not declared.
- Ultimately determines revenue charges for each shipment.
- Has unlimited access to the computer billing system.
- Through coding and input, it may effectively control what charges are charged to what account.
Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
