Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight transportation operations efficiently. Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily freight dispatching activities by assigning shipments to drivers using transportation management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking tools.
- Monitor real-time vehicle locations via GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to ensure on-time deliveries and efficient routing.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and clients through multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette at all times.
- Utilize transportation management software such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to plan routes, schedule pickups/deliveries, and update shipment statuses.
- Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and logistics platforms to track freight movement, shipping & receiving records, and fleet management details.
- Analyze transportation data to identify bottlenecks or delays, providing solutions that improve overall supply chain efficiency.
- Collaborate with warehouse teams for shipping & receiving coordination, ensuring seamless freight flow within the supply chain network.
Skills
- Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS), Oracle Transportation Management, and logistics software like SyteLine.
- Proficiency with GPS devices, GIS mapping tools, and fleet management platforms to optimize routing and dispatching processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while maintaining clear documentation.
- Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret data related to freight movements, shipping schedules, and supply chain metrics.
- Experience with freight dispatching procedures within a 3PL (third-party logistics) environment or similar logistics operations.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving protocols, warehouse operations, and fleet management best practices.
- Typing proficiency for quick data entry combined with familiarity in using AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for logistics management. Pay: $20.91 - $24.73 per hour
