Freight Dispatcher

Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Freight Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight shipments efficiently across our transportation network. In this vital role, you will oversee the scheduling, tracking, and dispatching of freight loads, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining excellent communication with drivers, carriers, and clients. Duties

• Coordinate the dispatching of freight loads using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to ensure optimal routing and delivery schedules.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and clients via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear and professional phone etiquette at all times.
• Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and troubleshoot any logistical issues in real-time.
• Manage shipping and receiving schedules, ensuring accurate data entry into systems like AS400 and Transportation Management Systems for seamless freight flow.
• Utilize analysis skills to evaluate transportation data, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements in freight dispatching processes.
• Maintain detailed records of shipments, driver logs, delivery statuses, and incident reports to support compliance and operational transparency.
• Collaborate with supply chain teams on transportation planning initiatives involving fleet management, 3PL (third-party logistics), and logistics strategies to meet company goals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching within a freight or logistics environment; familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GIS, GPS technology, and transportation planning concepts to support efficient route optimization.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while demonstrating superior phone etiquette.
• Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating logistics data and making informed dispatching decisions.
• Proficiency in data entry using systems like AS400 or similar platforms; experience with shipping & receiving processes is a plus.
• Knowledge of fleet management practices, 3PL operations, and supply chain fundamentals to enhance overall transportation efficiency.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail; typing skills are essential for accurate record keeping.
