Eastern Iowa Pet Resort is hiring a full-time Front Desk and Operations Lead to help run a dependable and customer-focused front desk while supporting smooth daily operations across services.
This role is a good fit for someone who communicates well, follows through, and can keep things moving in a busy pet-care environment.
We are especially looking for someone with an outgoing, friendly, customer-loving personality who enjoys talking with people and helping create a warm, welcoming experience.
You will be the first point of contact for customers and their pets while helping manage check-ins, checkouts, phones, service handoffs, and day-to-day front-desk flow. This role also helps support boarding, daycare, and grooming operations so the business runs smoothly when ownership is not on site.
This role offers growth potential for someone who proves they can be dependable, trusted, and strong in day-to-day operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet customers and pets promptly and professionally.
- Check pets in and out accurately and efficiently.
- Answer phones, route calls correctly, and communicate clearly with customers and staff.
- Keep the front desk covered, organized, and moving with urgency.
- Keep customer and pet records accurate and current.
- Communicate clearly with boarding, daycare, and grooming so requested services and special details are not missed.
- Keep routine follow-up items from falling through the cracks.
- Process payments accurately and follow company standards.
- Help keep the lobby, front desk, and shared work areas clean and presentable.
- Support general facility flow and help where needed during busy periods.
- Stay productive during slower windows instead of waiting to be told what to do.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of customer service experience required.- 5+ years of customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Strong customer-service presence, professional communication, and an outgoing, friendly personality.
- Dependable attendance, strong follow-through, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in pet care, boarding, daycare, grooming, veterinary, kennel, or another fast-paced service environment strongly preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Team-first mindset and willingness to help where needed.
- Comfort working around dogs of different sizes and temperaments.
- Basic computer comfort for scheduling, notes, and payments.
PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, clean, and stay active for most of the shift.
- Work around barking, pet hair, odors, cleaning chemicals, and a busy pet-care environment.
- Work a split-shift schedule and return ready to work after the unpaid midday break.
