Zoom Room Thousand Oaks Dog Training is dedicated to delivering a variety of positive reinforcement dog training services tailored for both puppies and adult dogs. Our mission extends beyond training dogs; we also educate the humans who love them. We welcome all breeds, regardless of size, and are passionate about what we do!

We are currently seeking a committed individual to join our team, someone who can provide exceptional communication and care to both our human and canine clients. The ideal candidate will exhibit compassion and understanding across various situations. This role will involve working at our front desk, assisting clients both in person and over the phone, selling passes, and scheduling appointments. Additionally, we are interested in candidates who aspire to grow with us and potentially develop into dog trainers. You will receive support from a Manager with over 16 years of experience in dog training and handling, along with guidance from other dedicated trainers in our organization.

Full Job Description

Responsibilities for Receptionist / Trainer Apprentice:

Prior customer service experience is required.

  • Greet clients and their dogs upon arrival and check them into classes.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and Trainers to ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Conduct phone consultations, facilitate new dog orientations, respond to client inquiries, and schedule appointments for both new and existing clients.
  • Manage text messages, emails, and client leads, ensuring timely responses.
  • Collect vaccination records, capture profile photos, and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed by clients.
  • Assist with cleaning up after dogs as needed.
  • Disinfect and sanitize all training areas regularly.
  • Exhibit patience with all types of dogs, including excited, timid, and aggressive individuals.
  • Educate owners about Zoom Room and the services we offer.
  • Implement active listening and note-taking to understand an owner's needs.
  • Work collaboratively with owners to enhance their understanding of their dogs.
  • Teach owners techniques to reinforce positive behavior.
  • Address and listen to dog owner concerns.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement training methods.
  • Foster collaboration with coworkers, including front desk staff and trainers.
  • Communicate effectively with trainers and owners regarding dog behaviors.
  • Develop actionable plans for dog owners.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with dogs of varying temperaments.
  • Assist trainers with class preparations and post-class clean-up.
  • Identify problems and propose solutions before escalating them to management.
  • Comply with safety protocols when interacting with dogs of all temperaments, from puppies to aggressive dogs.
  • Receive constructive feedback to enhance personal development within the role.
  • Thrive under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down agility equipment.
  • Help manage our social media presence.
  • Contribute to hosting doggy birthday parties and events, both in-store and off-site.

Qualifications for a Receptionist/Dog Trainer Apprentice:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A genuine passion for dogs and educating their owners.
  • Familiarity with various dog breeds is a plus.
  • A history of dog ownership is preferred.
  • Ability to read dog behavior and body language, or a willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable engaging with individuals in both one-on-one and group settings.
