Front Desk Receptionist and Optical Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist and Optical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This pivotal role combines front desk responsibilities with optical patient support, ensuring a smooth, welcoming experience for every visitor. You will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, managing appointments, answering phones, and assisting with optical services. Your enthusiasm and professionalism will help foster a positive environment while supporting clinical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a friendly and professional atmosphere at the front desk
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Maximeyes and Weave platform
  • Verify patient insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accurate collection of payment at time of service
  • Assist with optical services including frame selection, lens measurements, and basic optical adjustments

Requirements

  • Prior experience in optometry office or clinic setting is highly desirable, especially familiarity with Maximeyes our EMR
  • Experience with optical services including optical experience or retail sales in eyewear is a plus but not required. We offer on the job training for the right candidate
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks such as scheduling, billing, and record keeping
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations
  • Basic understanding of medical coding practices for billing purposes is a plus
