Front Desk Receptionist/ Surgery Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Front Desk Receptionist/ Surgery Coordinator to join our team. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare or medical office setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with patients and staff at all levels
  • Experience with Elation EMR preferred, but not required
  • Bilingual candidates are a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients with check-in and check-out
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Answer incoming calls promptly, address inquiries, and direct calls as needed
  • Maintain and update accurate patient records and demographic information
  • Verify insurance information and scan insurance cards/IDs at check-in
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, and outstanding balances
  • Process required documentation and ensure completeness
  • Coordinate patient referrals as needed
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, medical assistants, and other team members
  • Relay messages accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with back-office duties as needed
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, ensuring all pre-operative requirements, clearances, and documentation are completed
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify benefits to prevent delays or denials
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and surgical facilities to ensure smooth coordination of care
  • Maintain accurate surgical schedules, records, and follow up on pending items to ensure timely case completion

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Expected hours: min 30 hours per week; max 40 hours per week

Compensation

  • $15.00 – $17.00 per hour (based on experience)

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 year of experience in customer service, medical terminology, and computer skills
  • Ability to commute to San Antonio, TX 78240
  • Willingness to relocate prior to start date if necessary
