Front End Revenue Cycle Training Specialist, Downtown Nashville (HW)

Summary: The Front-End Revenue Cycle Training Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, maintaining, and evaluating training programs for clinic staff focused on patient access workflows within Epic. This role ensures staff are not only proficient in system navigation (Epic Cadence/Prelude) but also understand the critical “why” behind front-end processes and their direct impact on revenue cycle performance, denial prevention, and patient experience. The Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in scheduling, registration, insurance verification, benefits investigation, authorizations and workqueue management while promoting standardized workflows across clinics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Training and Education

  • Develop and deliver training programs for front-end staff including:
    • Patient registration (Prelude)
    • Scheduling workflows (Cadence)
    • Insurance eligibility and verification
    • Benefits investigations
    • Prior authorizations and referrals
  • Workqueue management (eligibility, authorization, scheduling, referral, patient)
  • Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and at-the-elbow training sessions
  • Evaluate learner competency and provide remediation as needed
  • Create and maintain training materials, job aids, and workflow guides

Workflow Standardization and Optimization

  • Promote standardized front-end workflows across all clinics
  • Identify process gaps and partner with leadership to implement improvements
  • Reinforce best practices that reduce denials and improve clean claim rates
  • Translate operational workflows into clear, teachable content

Revenue Cycle Education

  • Educate staff on how front-end actions impact:
    • Claims accuracy
    • Reimbursement
    • Denials and rework
  • Emphasize the importance of:
    • Accurate insurance verification
    • Timely and complete authorizations
    • Correct scheduling practices

Collaboration and Support

  • Partner with clinic leadership, revenue cycle teams, and Epic analysts
  • Support onboarding of new hires and ongoing staff development
  • Act as a resource for front-end staff regarding workflows and Epic functionality
  • Assist with Epic upgrades, optimizations, and training rollouts

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in: Patient Access / Front-End Revenue Cycle OR Epic Cadence / Prelude super user, trainer, or lead role
  • High school education equivalent or higher
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Insurance verification and eligibility processes
    • Benefits investigation
    • Prior authorizations and referrals
    • Scheduling and registration workflows
  • Experience working within Epic (Cadence and/or Prelude)
  • Proven ability to train, coach, or mentor staff
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic Certification or Credentialing in: Cadence or Prelude
  • Previous training or education role in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with workqueues and denial prevention strategies
  • Knowledge of payer rules, medical necessity, and authorization requirements

Work Environment

  • Office environment – limited exposure to communicable disease.
  • No exposure to blood-borne pathogens or contaminated body fluids

Physical Demands

  • Requires regular sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities require by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision
  • Local travel is required
