Job Overview
As a Front Load (FEL) waste collection driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and transportation of waste and recyclables. This role requires excellent driving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial front end loader vehicle along assigned routes to customers and disposal sites
- Deliver, transport and/or unload container with materials at designated locations/dump site
- Return container to original location
- Operate electronic devices to log/report information
- Communicate with dispatch personnel
- Report delays due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns to management
- Reporting all container-related issues and needs to dispatch and management
- Keep truck and associated equipment, clean, safe and in good working order, including cleaning behind the packing blade.
- Perform truck inspections pre and post trip
- Safely collect commercial waste/recyclable materials from designated locations and monitor for unacceptable waste.
- Safely operate all vehicle controls for lifting and loading
- Safely operate compacters to dispose of material
- Follow all applicable traffic laws and regulations
- Ensure that all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement
- No more than 1 moving violation within the past 3 years. No license suspensions within the past 2 years. No DUI's within the past 5 years or 2 in any 10 year period.
- Proven experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the waste management industry
- Knowledge of local geography and road networks
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to operate and maintain waste collection vehicles and equipment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and operating heavy equipment
- Shifts may vary, 40+ hours per week (overtime available)
- Must be able to safely lift and move 50lbs or more at a time
- Able to sit in trailer cab for extended periods of time
- Able to enter and exit the vehicle multiple times per day
- Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by company policies.
