Front of House Employee & Barista

Pay: Starting from $16.00 per hour + shared tips

Job description:

We are a growing, independently owned café looking for a motivated and outgoing Front-of-House Employee & Barista to join our small team. This is primarily a long-term position (NOT a summer only position) — ideal for someone who wants to grow with us.

This is a dynamic role that combines barista work, cashier duties, light food preparation, and—most importantly—connecting with our customers. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, learns quickly, and takes initiative without constant supervision. As a small business, every team member plays a key role in creating an exceptional experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare coffee and smoothie beverages to standard (training provided)
• Greet customers warmly, offer menu guidance, and help them find their favorite items
• Operate the POS system accurately and handle cash/card transactions
• Assemble simple food items such as salads and wraps, and bake frozen pastries as needed (training provided)
• Fill display cases following defined presentation standards (e.g., cutting pound cakes in specific portions)
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment at all times
• Learn daily operations quickly and recognize opportunities to assist without being asked
• Assist with light inventory tasks, such as restocking, counting, and alerting the team when items need to be reordered
• Complete opening and closing duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong communication skills; friendly, approachable, and confident with guests
• Excellent multitasking ability and strong organizational habits during busy times
• High attention to detail, situational awareness, and strong common sense in day-to-day decisions
• A proactive self-starter who works well independently and in a team setting
• Previous barista experience (manual espresso machine experience highly preferred)
• Food Handling Certification is a plus, but not required
• Comfort with basic food handling and service standards
• Flexible availability, including weekends
