Position Overview

Nanna’s Cafe and Bread Company is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Front of House Server to join our growing team as we continue expanding into our new Uptown Rapid Mall location. This is a hands-on position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service, and understands the importance of maintaining high standards during busy service periods.

Summer is one of our busiest seasons, and we are looking for team members who can perform under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and professional appearance. This is not a corporate restaurant where employees are expected to follow a script. We are a locally owned, family-operated business that values personality, genuine hospitality, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.

This position is equally responsible for exceptional customer service and maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and appearance of all front-of-house areas, ensuring every guest experiences the highest standards of hospitality and presentation.

Primary Responsibilities

Guest Experience and Hospitality

  • Provide exceptional customer service from greeting through departure
  • Build positive relationships with guests and create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Answer menu questions confidently and provide recommendations when appropriate
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Represent the Nanna’s brand with professionalism and enthusiasm

Food Running and Service Excellence

  • Deliver food and beverages accurately and efficiently
  • Monitor dining areas to anticipate guest needs before being asked
  • Ensure food presentation meets company standards before leaving the kitchen
  • Assist with takeout, online, and third-party orders as needed

Dining Room Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting dining environment throughout service
  • Bus, clean, and reset tables quickly and efficiently
  • Monitor dining room cleanliness, restroom conditions, and guest-facing areas
  • Support daily sanitation and cleanliness standards

Front of House Cleaning and Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of all front-of-house areas at all times
  • Clean and sanitize dining tables, chairs, booths, counters, beverage stations, and customer-facing surfaces throughout the day
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain dining room floors according to company standards
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of customer restrooms, ensuring they remain stocked, sanitized, and guest-ready throughout operating hours
  • Keep entryways, waiting areas, outdoor seating areas, and customer access points clean, safe, and free of debris
  • Empty trash and recycling containers as needed and maintain clean waste disposal areas
  • Perform daily, weekly, and periodic deep-cleaning tasks assigned by management
  • Identify and report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to management promptly
  • Assist in maintaining a professional, welcoming environment that reflects the quality and reputation of Nanna’s Cafe and Bread Company
  • Take ownership of front-of-house appearance and contribute to a clean, organized, and inviting guest experience at all times

Service Preparation and Side Work

  • Prepare and roll silverware to maintain service readiness
  • Restock front-of-house supplies, beverage stations, condiments, and service items
  • Complete opening, shift, and closing duties thoroughly and consistently
  • Ensure all customer-facing areas are stocked, clean, and ready for service

Teamwork and Operational Support

  • Work closely with kitchen staff to maintain smooth and efficient service
  • Assist with daily operational tasks as assigned
  • Support fellow team members during busy periods without being asked
  • Help maintain a positive, productive, and professional work environment

Required Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant, café, or hospitality experience is required
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-volume environment
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak summer business periods
  • Positive attitude with a team-first mentality
  • Ability to accept coaching and continuously improve performance

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during high-volume service periods

We are a scratch-made operation committed to producing high-quality food and baked goods while providing a safe dining experience for our guests. While our bakery products are gluten-free and dairy-free, our café menu includes regular cheese by default, with vegan cheese options available.
