Sichuan House is hiring dependable front-of-house team members who can contribute both in direct guest service and in dining room support.

This is a hybrid FOH role. Some shifts are tipped, guest-facing service shifts. Other shifts are non-tipped support shifts focused on side work, dining room readiness, cleanliness, stocking, and service flow. We are looking for people who take hospitality seriously, work with urgency, and understand that strong service depends on strong execution.

We are a family-style Chinese restaurant in San Antonio focused on teamwork, professionalism, speed, and high standards.

Schedule: Day shift, Night shift, Weekends as needed

Pay Structure

This role rotates between two shift types:

1) Tipped Guest Service Shifts

• $4 - 8/hour + tips
• You may take tables and earn tips when scheduled in this role

2) Non-Tipped Front-of-House Support / Side-Duty Shifts

• $8.00 - 15/hour
• These shifts do not include taking tables or earning tips
• Focus is on operational support, side work, production support, and keeping service running cleanly and efficiently

Your shift designation will be determined in advance based on business needs.

Required Certifications

• Current TABC certification
• Current Food Handler certification

What This Role Includes

A) Guest Service Shifts

When scheduled in a tipped service role, responsibilities may include:

• Delivering warm, attentive service and guiding guests through family-style dining
• Accurately taking orders in the POS and clearly communicating allergies or preferences
• Running food and drinks with urgency
• Maintaining clean, organized sections and busing tables as needed
• Handling guest concerns professionally and escalating to management when appropriate
• Maintaining cleanliness at service stations and in public areas
• Knowing the menu well enough to describe dishes, ingredients, and dietary considerations clearly

B) Front-of-House Support / Side-Duty Shifts

When scheduled in a non-tipped support role, responsibilities may include:

• Cutting green beans
• Folding wontons
• Preparing plasticware rolls
• Filling hot oil-to-go cups
• Folding napkins and completing support prep
• Restocking supplies
• Cleaning and maintaining dining room readiness
• Assisting front-of-house flow as directed

Core Expectations

These are non-negotiable:

• Arrive on time, ready to work, and meeting pre-shift expectations
• Complete check-in with the Team Captain and immediately begin assigned duties
• No phone distractions while on shift except for approved business use
• Move with urgency and take initiative when work needs to be done
• Use “full hands out / full hands in” every time you move between the dining room and kitchen
• Complete your closing side work fully and have it signed off before clock-out when required

Requirements

• Current TABC and Food Handler certifications
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift at least 25 lbs
• Reliable transportation
• Consistent availability, especially on weekends

This role requires availability for the following high-volume holidays:

• Valentine’s Day
• Mother’s Day
• Christmas Eve
• Christmas Day
• New Year’s Eve
