Front Office Medical Assistant

We are seeking a reliable, organized, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our busy Rheumatology practice in a versatile front office/clinical floater role. This position will support both administrative and clinical functions as needed, ensuring efficient workflow and a seamless patient experience. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable shifting between front desk responsibilities and back office clinical support.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greet and check in/check out patients in a friendly and professional manner
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations/referrals
• Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars efficiently
• Answer multi-line phones, respond to patient inquiries, and route calls appropriately
• Collect copays, balances, and process payments accurately
• Maintain and update patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system

Clinical Support Duties:

• Room patients and obtain vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.).
• Administer IM and SQ injections.
• Update medical histories, medications, and allergies in EMR.
• Support coordination of labs, imaging, and specialty medications
• Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in Rheumatology highly preferred
• 2 years medical assistant experience
• Athena EHR experience highly preferred
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented
• Motivated, self-starter
• Great computer skills
• Proficient with injections

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
