Under direction, performs varied, complex clerical work involving the processing of documents in a variety of functions; takes the lead and/or performs the more difficult and complex clerical work; does other related duties as required.

Provides Clerical Support to the finance department
Serves as backup to payroll and accounting departments after a period of training.
Receives, screens, reviews and verifies documents.
Money handling and interpretation of related forms.
Ability to learn and successfully complete tasks in financial system
Reviews and checks assigned reports, applications, and other documents for corrections and completeness; refers problems to a lead worker or supervisor for resolution.
Opens, time stamps, sorts, numbers, and distributes mail.
Maintains prepared mailing lists.
Sorts, indexes, and files checks, cash stubs, vouchers, requisitions and other materials, numerically, alphabetically, or according to other predetermined classification; maintains such files.
Compiles information and/or numerical data in support of contract negotiations.
May enter and/or retrieve information on a computer terminal.
May assist in preparing and verifying payrolls and make simple arithmetic calculations.
Performs specialized clerical work involving the preparation and maintenance of assessment rolls and records.
Reviews and checks payroll or personnel records, statements, documents, certificates, or time and attendance records.
Prepares regular, supplemental, and overtime payrolls, adds or deletes employees as required.
Knowledge of office methods, practices, routines, and equipment.
Ability to interpret and apply relevant rules and regulations concerning salary increments, bonuses, and authorized deductions.
Ability to comprehend, interprets, and applies rules and regulations in accord with established procedures and policies of the unit.
Ability to accurately prepare detailed, technical, and confidential payroll forms and documents.
Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to make accurate calculations quickly and accurately.
Ability to learn from oral and written explanations or from demonstration.
Ability to maintain confidential records and files.
Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
