FT High School Mathematics Teacher

Full-Time Mathematics Teacher

American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seeking a full-time high school math teacher.

Nature of the Role This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to academic instruction, teachers are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Qualifications Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in math education, three months or more of tutoring and teaching AP and college-level calculus in high school/college setting, score at least 185 in the Praxis secondary school math teacher exam (5165) and at least 34 in ACT/730 in SAT math section. Candidates must provide evidence of qualification at the time of application. Candidates must also have a commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills, high energy and a warm, consistent presence in the classroom, experience preparing and delivering daily lesson plans, experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives, and the ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods along with a willingness to continue learning and growing professionally.

Faith and Mission Responsibilities In addition to academic responsibilities, teachers at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate, serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.

Professional Expectations Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Teaching Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include planning and implementing engaging mathematics lessons at the high school level, include AP Calculus, tutoring and mentoring students in mathematics and career development, including AP Calculus. In addition, the candidate must be willing to fulfill various administrative duties as assigned by the school.

Communication and Organization Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics, maintain purposeful and effective classroom routines, communicate with parents and colleagues in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, and positive, and monitor and report student progress clearly and consistently. Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities is helpful but not required.

Position Details This position is available for the 2026–2027 school year.
