FT & PT Dog Walker/Pet Sitter - Portland Metro

Be warned, this job isn’t for the faint of heart, we walk dogs in the heat, in the rain, and even in the snow. But the rewards in snuggles, dog kisses and belly rubs are just the frosting on the cake. We pay above minimum wage, and reimburse for on shift mileage. You can also earn bonuses, tips, and the unconditional love of dozens of pets.

• Full time and part time positions available. We are open 7days a week, 365 days a year.

This position is VERY active - walking, hiking & almost 100% outside including in snow, pouring rain, and hot, sunny weather. All services happen at the client's home or outside. We are not a boarding or daycare facility.

YOU MUST HAVE A CAR- unless you can fly. – Seriously, this position requires you have your own vehicle with insurance. Bikes and Buses don’t cut it. You will also need your own smart phone with WiFi capabilities.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications (all the boring stuff):

*Please note: Qualified applicants must be 19 years old and be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months for pet walking/sitting services. A background check is required to secure employment.

Requirements & Qualifications
High school degree and at least 19 years of age.

US citizens or legally authorized to work in the US for at least the next 12 months

Local full-time resident of the Portland area. You MUST live in or very close the area you are to be servicing. No exceptions. We are currently looking to add to our team of dog walkers and pet sitters for all shifts 7 days a week between 7 AM to 9 PM, as well as overnight in the client's home.

Available for between 4-8 hours per day, including early mornings, evenings and weekends with variable hours is preferred.

Experience as a professional pet sitter/dog walker is required, or similar experience working with animals and/or handling dogs of all temperaments and sizes.

Absolutely love pets! Dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, you name it, you want to be around them!

Physically fit - walking/ running dogs, getting on the floor to play with kitties, scooping litter, picking up animals, etc. Able to physically lift 50 lbs. and walk for up to 8 hours a day.

Have a reliable, gas efficient vehicle, valid driver's license & proof of insurance, and are comfortable driving in all weather conditions including snow. Mileage and drive-time between services is reimbursed.

Mature, professional, extremely dependable.

Have a reliable smart phone with unlimited data.

Enjoy being outside (in every type of weather: heat, snow, ice, dark etc.).

Excellent professional customer service and communication skills, written and verbal.

Must be organized, and work well independently.

Applicants need to be able to handle and understand pet behaviors of all sizes and all temperaments including high energy dogs and temperamental cats while remaining calm under pressure, using positive reinforcements, gentle, encouraging corrections with animals.

YOU MUST be available to work during the holidays: Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Labor Day, Memorial Day are all REQUIRED.

Be neat and clean in appearance and work areas – cleaning is a requirement.

Able to adhere to a strict confidentiality agreement.
