Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Full Charge Accountant or Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our retail services company. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to manage comprehensive accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial operations. Duties
- Manage full cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken.
- Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation to ensure accurate financial data.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify asset, liability, and equity account balances.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and statements that reflect the company’s financial position in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Oversee bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded with proper debits & credits following double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Handle tax-related tasks such as preparing for audits, managing tax filings, and ensuring compliance with governmental accounting requirements.
- Support budgeting processes by analyzing financial data to assist in forecasting and cost control initiatives.
- Maintain meticulous records of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other critical financial documentation.
- Assist with internal controls and audit procedures to uphold financial integrity and transparency.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a full charge bookkeeper or accountant within retail or similar industries.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial management tools.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), governmental accounting standards (if applicable), and corporate accounting practices.
- Demonstrated ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and general ledger accounting accurately.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, tax preparation, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; proficiency in 10 key typing is preferred.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports; experience with financial report writing is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external auditors.
- Relevant certifications or coursework in accounting or finance are advantageous; familiarity with multiple accounting software platforms is highly desirable. - Minimum of 5 years of full charge General Ledger and Financial Statement preparation required
