We are seeking a Senior Full-Charge Bookkeeper with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience who is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online, experienced in QuickBooks Desktop, and confident handling payroll, sales tax filings, and complex QuickBooks cleanup projects.
This is not a data-entry role. This position requires independent problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to correct structural bookkeeping errors.
Position Overview
This role manages full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients in a remote accounting firm environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, maintaining clean books, and stepping into cleanup or catch-up situations when necessary.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients
- Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, balance sheet accounts)
- Prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)
- Process payroll and ensure payroll tax compliance (multi-state preferred)
- Prepare and file sales tax returns
- Perform QuickBooks cleanup and catch-up work
- Review general ledger activity and correct misclassifications
- Prepare adjusting journal entries when needed
- Maintain audit-ready books and organized documentation
- Communicate professionally with clients and internal team members
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop
- Demonstrated experience completing QuickBooks cleanups
- Experience processing payroll and handling payroll tax filings
- Experience preparing and filing sales tax returns
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, and double-entry accounting
- Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously
- Experience working remotely and independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within an accounting firm
- Multi-state payroll and sales tax experience
- Strong understanding of internal controls and structured accounting systems
