About the Job
We are looking for a
Senior Software Engineer
to join our backend team. The ideal candidate is proficient in
TypeScript
, understands
AWS
, and possesses a deep technical curiosity regarding AI backend infrastructure—from the evolution of MCPs to modern prompt engineering.
We need someone with a deep understanding of the
OpenClaw
architecture.
You should be adept at navigating complex structural challenges, particularly regarding how systems handle memory and persistent storage.
We want a candidate passionate about OpenClaw is interested in evolving its capabilities.
Role & Responsibilities
-
Architect Backend Systems:
Design and maintain robust, scalable, cloud-native backend services using TypeScript.
-
OpenClaw Optimization:
Dive deep into the OpenClaw framework to resolve structural bottlenecks and optimize critical components like
heartbeats
.
-
Memory Management:
Lead the transition of key data paths from traditional storage to
persistent memory
to drive performance gains.
-
Legacy Analysis:
Apply lessons learned from the failure of
MCPs
(Master Control Programs) to ensure our current architecture avoids historical pitfalls.
-
Cloud Evolution:
Leverage AWS to build and maintain infrastructure that supports high-concurrency AI workloads.
-
AI Integration:
Experiment with and self-host AI tools to optimize internal development workflows and system performance.
Qualifications
We value technical curiosity and a "builder" mindset over a specific checklist of years, but ideally, you bring the following:
-
Deep Backend Expertise:
Proven experience building high-performance distributed systems in a cloud environment (Node.js/TypeScript preferred).
-
OpenClaw Mastery:
Significant experience with OpenClaw, specifically regarding its memory management and structural architecture.
-
Historical Context:
A strong understanding of the evolution of MCPs, why they failed, and how to apply those lessons to modern systems.
-
Systems Optimization:
Experience optimizing low-latency components and moving data across the storage hierarchy (Storage → Persistent Memory).
-
Cloud Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of
AWS
(EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) or a demonstrated ability to master complex cloud stacks rapidly.
-
AI/LLM Curiosity:
A track record of experimenting with AI tools, such as self-hosting local models or using AI to automate system optimizations.
-
Problem Solver:
A "tinkerer" spirit—someone who runs a home lab or contributes to open-source projects in their spare time.
