Full-Stack Web Developer (Mapbox + WebGL)

Render House is looking for a talented Full-Stack Web Developer to take ownership of an internal web app we've built — and help us turn it into something much bigger.

About the Project

We've built an internal Mapbox-based web app that replicates the functionality of GeoLayers, but with a simpler, more intuitive interface designed for video editors. The goal: let our editing team create high-quality, professional map animations without the steep learning curve of traditional motion graphics tools.

The MVP is already up and running, but we need someone to:

• Fix existing bugs and stability issues
• Add more animations and visual options
• Improve the WebCodecs-based renderer (performance, output quality, export speed)
• Continuously improve the app based on editor feedback

Long-term, our vision is to grow this into a full SaaS product that creates viral map animations for a wider audience — but right now, our focus is making it the best possible internal tool for our editors.

What You'll Be Working With

• Frontend: Mapbox GL JS, modern JavaScript/TypeScript
• Renderer: WebCodecs API (browser-based video rendering)
• Stack: Web app architecture (specifics flexible based on what works best)

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience with Mapbox GL JS (or similar mapping libraries)
• Hands-on experience with WebCodecs or browser-based video rendering
• Solid full-stack web development background
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of a product
• Comfort with modern AI dev tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) — we move fast. The current MVP was built in 1 month, and we expect that pace going forward. We're not looking for people who spend days on tasks that AI tooling can accelerate.
• Bonus: experience with motion graphics, video tooling, or SaaS development
• Bonus: an eye for clean UX (since this tool is used by non-developers)

The Role

• Type: Full-time, long-term (ongoing development, not a one-time gig)
• Location: Remote, anywhere
• Why long-term? This app is core to our workflow and will be evolving constantly. We're looking for someone who wants to grow with the project and eventually help us launch the SaaS version.
