Full-Stack Website Developer (Contract)

Saline, United States

About Us

Metric has been serving clients for more than 10 years, helping businesses grow through strategic marketing, design, and storytelling. We’ve been recognized nationally and regionally for our success, including being named to the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies in the Midwest three times and receiving multiple regional awards for high growth and impact. We’ve worked with clients across industries—from law firms and biotech to consumer brands—and we continue to serve a strong portfolio of clients with excellence.

Authenticity has guided us for over a decade. Now, we’re embracing an even greater purpose: to devote ourselves to authentic marketing for authentic brands. We believe our work should do more than generate results; it should promote truth, integrity, and authenticity in the world.

We also believe the work we do carries weight. We are trusted with our clients’ brands, stories, and reputations. That requires not only technical skill, but also character, maturity, and integrity. Our culture is one of humility, growth, and wisdom. We seek people who are spiritually and personally mature—who listen deeply, serve others, and pursue wisdom while bringing their best every day.

The Role

We are seeking a Full-Stack Website Developer (contract) with deep experience in custom WordPress development and a strong foundation across front-end and back-end technologies. This person will build, maintain, and optimize websites that are fast, scalable, secure, and aligned with client goals.

The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, self-driven, and able to deliver high-quality work without micromanagement. You’ll collaborate with designers, content creators, and strategists to bring authentic brands to life online.

Responsibilities

WordPress & Full-Stack Development

  • Build, maintain, and optimize custom WordPress websites (themes, plugins, integrations).
  • Work across the full stack: front-end (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) and back-end (PHP, MySQL).
  • Integrate third-party APIs, eCommerce platforms, and other tools.
  • Ensure websites are scalable, responsive, and high-performing.
  • Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.

Project Execution & Collaboration

  • Partner with designers to faithfully realize creative vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (content, paid ads, SEO, account managers) to deliver cohesive client experiences.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with quality and precision.
  • Contribute to project scopes, timelines, and resource planning.

Optimization & Innovation

  • Monitor and improve site performance, speed, and security.
  • Implement SEO best practices in development.
  • Stay current with new tools, frameworks, and WordPress updates.
  • Think critically and creatively to solve technical challenges.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Humble, self-aware professionals who bring their best every day.
  • People who reject mediocrity and take pride in their craft.
  • Teammates who are spiritually and personally mature—who seek wisdom, growth, and depth in their work and in life.
  • Positive collaborators who lift others up and rally together.
  • Changemakers energized by building something new, even when the path isn’t fully clear.
  • Individuals who understand the responsibility of handling clients’ brands with integrity and authenticity.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of WordPress development experience (custom themes, plugins, advanced integrations).
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, etc.) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with eCommerce (WooCommerce, Shopify) and plugins like ACF, Yoast, WP Rocket.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and deployment tools.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and website performance optimization.
  • Strong communication skills — ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members and clients.
  • Experience in an agency or multi-client environment preferred.

Compensation & Details

  • Hourly pay: $25.00 – $50.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Candidates with advanced expertise may be compensated at the higher end of this range.
  • Flexible schedule, but active presence and in-person collaboration required.
