Full- Time and Part-Time Dental Assistant

DENTAL ASSISTANT

This position is responsible for increased efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality oral health care and is valuable member of the dental care team. Strong communication skills, ability to work with your hands, critical thinking skills and ability to take responsibility are all necessary characteristics of a great dental assistant.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Opening Duties

· Open office per office policy; if you are the first to arrive

· Turn on pumps and sterilize.

· Check schedule and prepare the rooms as necessary for the day’s patients

Daily Clinical Duties

· Greet and seat patient in appropriate room

· Discuss dental complaint and latex allergy

· Take dental x-ray always using a lead apron

· Provide patient with endodontic patient education and treatment consent form

· Present to the doctor patient information, history, and problem

· Assist doctor during dental procedure according to doctor’s preferences

· Use protective eyewear on all patients

· Clean and sterilize room after consultation or endodontic treatment according to OSHA standards

· Prepare the room for the next patient

· Clean and sterilize instruments according to OSHA standards

· Refill room with supplies as needed

· Maintain laundry needs

· Autoclave instruments as necessary

Closing Duties

· Put away sterilized instruments in their proper locations

· Turn off pumps

· Close out computers in dental rooms

· Complete end-of-day checklist, sign, and place on Office Manager’s Desk; if you are the closer

Daily Non-clinical Duties

· Greet all patients warmly and with a smile

· Cooperate with all other staff and doctors

· Take responsibility for your work area and report and issues or concerns immediately to the Office Manager

· Fill in at other offices, as needed

· Adhere to the general practice guidelines outlined in the practice handbook (e.g., vacation requests, time-off for late start/early leave and doctor’s appointments, attire, protocols)

· Maintain compliance with practice uniform schedule

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
