Full time Children's Advocacy Center Forensic Interviewer

TITLE: Children's Advocacy Center Forensic Interviewer (Full time position 40 hrs/week)

ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Executive Director and/or their designee

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: This position provides administrative and forensic interviews for the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties a program of Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services (SAPARS). This position requires an understanding of best practices as it relates to child centered, trauma-informed care for children who have been impacted by sexual violence and other types of abuse; the ability to effectively and thoughfully communicate with supportive care providers and multidisciplinary team members; and the highest level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

:

  • Conduct forensic interviews with children when there are concerns of child sexual abuse and/or other forms of child abuse and neglect.
  • Facilitate the pre and post interview meetings with the supportive caregiver and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) partners.
  • Facilitate the information sharing meeting with the MDT partners before the pre-interview meeting.
  • Manage victim statistical information, via Empower DB, for purposes of reporting and case monitoring on a one week and one month follow up from initial intake date.
  • Ensure CAC files are secure in a locked filing cabinet and that CAC database is secure via password protection at all times.
  • Promote Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services by distributing posters and brochures, staffing information table, and attending relevant meetings and trainings.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director, when needed, to support fundraising efforts on behalf of the CAC program as well as SAPARS overall agency needs.
  • Attend scheduled clinical supervision and 1:1 supervision with the CAC Program Coordinator on a routine basis.
  • Provide administrative support, when necessary, for the purposes of CAC program needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Attend monthly case review meetings and special case review meetings when requested.
  • Provide insight as the CAC Forensic Interviewer at the monthly case review meetings.
  • Follow up on case review recommendations where appropriate.
  • Enter case data into Empower DB database and provide reports when requested.
  • Attend the 40 Hour Sexual Assault Advocate Training
  • Attend the National Children’s Advocacy Center’s Basic Forensic Interviewing course
  • Maintain relevant professional affiliations and take advantage of continuing education and advanced training opportunities.
  • Attend local and statewide peer reviews as required.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:

  • Must possess excellent professional organizational, clerical, interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity of dynamics relating to sexual violence and other forms of child abuse.
  • Knowledge of child development and best practice for child-centered, trauma informed care.
  • Consistent and dependable attention to detail on all aspects of this job.
  • Must be able to work independently & have flexibility in a resourceful manner to meet program goals.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Maine State Judicial and Social Services Systems.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team with integrity using a strength based approach.
  • Ability to accurately document and complete paperwork by due date and adhere to the strict timeline within the CAC guidelines.
  • Must possess computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Must possess the highest level of confidentiality, professional boundaries and conform to the confidentiality protocols set forth in the CAC/MDT guidelines and procedures.
  • Must possess a valid Maine State license and sufficient insurance coverage.
  • Must pass State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) check, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Abuse and Neglect investigation, and Motor Vehicle Check.

Education:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in, social work, psychology, human services or other related field OR a 4 year combination of education, work and/or life experience with victims of sexual violence and/or child abuse.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
