Full-Time Cross-Trained Dental Assistant / Front Desk Coordinator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated, friendly, and detail-oriented team member to join our dental office as a Full-Time Cross-Trained Dental Assistant / Front Desk Coordinator. This role combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities to help ensure excellent patient care and smooth daily office operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, personable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced dental environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical / Dental Assistant Duties:

  • Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable and prepared for treatment.
  • Take dental X-rays and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and operatory cleanliness.
  • Manage dental supplies and inventory.
  • Support overall clinical efficiency and patient care.

Front Desk / Treatment Coordinator Duties:

  • Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments efficiently.
  • Maintain a productive and full schedule by proactively filling openings, managing cancellations, and confirming appointments.
  • Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and handle office communication professionally.
  • Verify insurance benefits and eligibility.
  • Collect payments, co-pays, and maintain accurate patient accounts.
  • Present and explain treatment plans thoroughly to patients, including recommended procedures, financial options, and insurance estimates.
  • Educate patients on the importance of diagnosed treatment and help address questions or concerns to ensure understanding and acceptance.
  • Coordinate treatment scheduling, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Dental Assistant certification or completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Previous dental office experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with treatment planning, insurance breakdowns, and presenting financial options preferred.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, insurance verification, and scheduling systems.
  • Experience with dental software such as Dentrix or Dentrix Ascend is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to confidently explain dental treatment and financial information to patients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Positive attitude with a strong focus on patient care and customer service.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Some flexibility may be required based on office needs

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
