The Town of Ixonia Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Firefighter / MPO / A-EMT. This recruitment will fill the current vacancy and establish an eligibility list for future full-time or part-time openings.

The Town of Ixonia Fire Department provides Fire and EMS services to the Towns of Ixonia, Concord, and Watertown.

Position Summary

Full-Time Firefighter/MPO/A-EMTs perform a wide range of duties including emergency response, fire suppression, EMS care, inspections, prevention activities, data management, administrative support, and maintenance of facilities and apparatus. Candidates must be self-motivated, professional, and committed to public service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, EMS, rescue, and other emergency incidents
• Provide patient care within A-EMT scope of practice and department protocols
• Perform fire suppression, rescue, ventilation, overhaul, and driver/operator duties
• Operate and maintain fire apparatus, tools, and equipment
• Complete reports, data entry, and documentation
• Conduct fire inspections and assist with fire prevention programs
• Perform station, facility, and apparatus maintenance
• Participate in training, drills, and continuing education
• Support administrative, clerical, and operational functions of the department

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with proof of insurability
• State of Wisconsin Firefighter I & II certification
• Current Wisconsin A-EMT certification or higher
• Certified Wisconsin Driver/Operator-Pumper Certification
• Current CPR certification (Healthcare Provider level)

Conditions of Employment

• Successful completion of a background check
• One (1) year probationary period
• Wisconsin A-EMT (or higher) certification required prior to start date
• Must obtain Wisconsin State Fire Inspector I certification within twelve (12) months of hire
• Residency within a 30-mile radius of the Ixonia Fire Department following probation
• Ability to meet physical and medical demands of emergency response duties
• Minimum attendance of fifty percent (50%) at scheduled department drills is required

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• 4-3-3 rotating 12-hour shift schedule 06:00 – 18:00
• Week 1: 4 days × 12 hours = 48 hours
• Week 2: 3 days × 12 hours = 36 hours
• Week 3: 3 days × 12 hours = 36 hours

Salary & Benefits

Starting Salary:

• $54,184.00 – Full-Time Firefighter/MPO/A-EMT

Wage Progression:

• Employees may receive a $0.50 per hour wage increase after successful completion of a six (6) month performance review
• Annual wage increases occur for the first three (3) years
• Firefighter/MPO/A-EMTs may earn up to $68,744.00 after three (3) years of employment
