The Villages Charter School (VCS) opened in August 2000 and is one of the most successful public charter schools in Florida. The Villages Charter School spans two campuses. Our Buffalo Ridge campus has three elementary attendance centers and one middle school building. Our newest campus, “Middleton”, opened in August 2023 with a K-8 center and a state-of-the-art high school complex.

VCS currently serves over 4100 students, kindergarten through 12th grades with an overall capacity of 6500 (500 students per grade level) across both campuses.

DESCRIPTION:

The Villages Charter School is accepting applications for a Fleet Vehicle Coordinator. This position will be at Middleton.

Salary commensurate with experience, starting at $25.00 per hour

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports day-to-day operations by managing vehicle scheduling, tracking, and basic driver support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The expectations include the following and other duties as assigned:

• Schedule and track fleet vehicles for daily operations

• Computer skills required at minimum are Google Docs, Google Sheets, G-Mail, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Assist the Fleet Manager with coordinating routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and servicing with vendors
• Maintain accurate fleet records, including vehicle assignments, mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance logs
• Support vehicle onboarding and offboarding, including documentation and inspections
• Monitor vehicle registrations, licenses, insurance, and compliance requirements
• Assist with accident reporting, damage documentation, and repair follow-up
• Track fuel cards, toll tags, and vehicle keys
• Respond to driver inquiries and provide basic fleet-related support
• Prepare reports on fleet activity, costs, and utilization as requested
• Ensure fleet vehicles meet safety standards and company policies
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fleet operations is a plus.
• Proficiency with google platforms or fleet management software.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and handle multiple tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 1-3 years of administrative, fleet, logistics,or transportation support experience preferred
• Valid driver license

• Additional or alternate qualifications to the above as the Board may find as appropriate and acceptable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is mainly quiet.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be full-time for 260 days beginning on July 1. Benefits shall be paid consistent with the VCS policy. The length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the Board.
