Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Floating Toddler Teacher to join our early childhood education team.
A preschool floater teacher provides flexible classroom support, filling in for absent teachers, covering staff breaks, and maintaining required student-to-teacher ratios. They adapt to various age groups and ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly across the facility.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children ages 24-48 months, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role involves ensuring a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere.
A degree in Early Childhood Education is desired however, not required. 2 years of paid experience working with children ages 1-5 years.
Duties
- Classroom Coverage: Seamlessly step into different classrooms to cover teacher breaks, planning time, or staff absences.
- Safety & Supervision: Actively monitor children during indoor play, outdoor activities, rest periods, and meals to ensure a safe environment.
- Daily Care Routines: Assist with personal care, including feeding, diapering, and potty training, while strictly following sanitation guidelines.
- Curriculum Assistance: Support lead teachers by preparing classroom materials, setting up activities, and helping children engage with daily lessons.
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging children's curiosity and creativity.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment: Adhering to health and safety regulations.
- First Aid: Provide first aid as needed and ensure that all children are supervised at all times.
- Annual Professional Development: Complete required professional development.
- Shifts will vary based upon staffing needs. 8-hour shifts would be between the hours of 7:15 and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 12 months per year.
Experience
- A background in childcare is essential, with experience working with older toddler-aged children preferred.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in roles such as nannying, babysitting, or toddler care will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of special education practices is a plus for supporting diverse learners.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience writting newsletter articles and communicating with families and team members.
- Knowledge of DHS and Keystone STARS regulations is a plus.
