Full Time Islamic High School English & Electives Teacher

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic High School English & Humanities Teacher who is deeply passionate about language, composition, rhetoric, and analytical writing instruction. This position focuses on developing students’ abilities in argumentation, rhetorical analysis, research writing, grammar, and academic communication rather than a primary emphasis on literary study.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teach Cambridge O-Level English (Language-focused).
  • Teach Cambridge AS and A Level English courses with an emphasis on writing, rhetoric, and textual analysis.
  • Teach AP English Language and Composition in accordance with College Board standards.
  • Teach Grade 8 English using the Cambridge Stage 9 curriculum/book with strong focus on grammar, composition, and analytical writing.

Elective Courses & Co-Curricular Leadership

  • Teach High School Speech (public speaking, rhetoric, structured presentations, and debate fundamentals).
  • Teach Journalism (news writing, reporting, media literacy, interviewing, editing, and publication standards).
  • Lead and coach the Speech & Debate Club, preparing students for structured debates, competitions, and public speaking events.Teach Speech & Journalism Electives

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field required
  • Valid State Teaching Certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Ability to teach two subjects, i.e. English & history, or English and an elective
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills and knowledge
  • Valid U.S. work authorization (e.g., U.S. citizenship or valid work permit)

Professional Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver instruction for reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Assess student performance through formal and informal measures
  • Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate academic records
  • Collaborate with team members on curriculum development and school initiatives
  • Support student social-emotional growth and character development
  • Participate in school events, parent communication, and professional development
  • Uphold school policies, mission, and code of conduct

Schedule

Monday through Friday 7:45 am - 3:45pm CST.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
