Newborn Care Specialist – Job 1995RJ

A joyful, calm, soon‑to‑be‑three household is searching for a warm and wonderfully unflappable NCS who can help them sail through newborn life with equal parts expertise and joy.

The Family

• This fun, easygoing family splits their time between Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley and values clear communication, low‑stress days, and a baby‑led, gentle approach to parenting. They’re curious, affectionate, and eager to learn all the tiny newborn cues that make early parenthood a little more magical and a lot less mysterious. They have a lovable 45‑lb dog, but no care is required. The home environment is calm, relaxed, collaborative, and ready for a professional who feels like a steady, reassuring presence from day one.

The Baby

• The family is welcoming a newborn girl in early June 2026. She’ll be fresh to the world and ready for someone who can help her parents understand her rhythms, support her feedings, and establish peaceful early habits.

The Role

• This role is all about newborn care and guiding new parents through the first few months with confidence and ease. Tasks include supporting breastfeeding, understanding newborn cues, establishing soothing routines, and keeping organized daily logs. No cooking, driving, pet care, or household duties outside of infant‑related areas are needed. A typical day (or night!) will revolve around caring for the infant, answering questions with patience, and helping maintain a calm, cozy vibe throughout the home.
• There are plenty of options for the live-in accommodation. During any periods up in Garrison there is a beautiful and private carriage house for your sole use. When in Brooklyn, a private bedroom + bathroom is available for your rest.

The Schedule

• 8 weeks of 20/7 live‑in care beginning immediately upon hospital discharge in early June.
• Followed by 4 weeks of 12‑hour overnight shifts

The Travel

• The family regularly transitions between Brooklyn and their Hudson Valley home in Garrison. A private carriage house is available for the NCS upstate. Travel is limited to these two locations and always planned with notice. No additional domestic or international travel expected.

The Pay

• Daily rate to be agreed but commensurate with $35-45/hr.

Calm, confident, knowledgeable, and deeply nurturing, you understand that newborn care isn’t just about swaddles and feeding logs—it’s also about helping brand‑new parents feel safe, supported, and capable during a life‑changing season. You bring a gentle, baby‑led approach and understand how to read even the subtlest newborn cues, from hunger murmurs to early sleep patterns.
• You communicate clearly, kindly, and without judgment, making space for questions, curiosity, and those “Are we doing this right?” moments that come with new parenthood. You balance professionalism with warmth and bring a steady emotional presence that helps the home feel peaceful, grounded, and joyful. You respect postpartum recovery, especially following a C‑section—and you know how to shape good habits without rigid schedules or pressure.
• A medical or nursing background is a lovely bonus, but what truly matters is your intuition, experience, discretion, and ability to create a nurturing environment where everyone, especially the smallest family member, can thrive.

Must-haves:

• Up‑to‑date Tdap, COVID, and flu vaccinations; Infant CPR.

Nice‑to‑haves:

• Medical/nursing interest or background; experience supporting breastfeeding.
