Full-Time Nanny, Astoria – Care, cuddles & rhythm for a sweet baby boy

The Schedule

  • The position offers a guaranteed 40 hours per week with some flexibility. The ideal schedule is Monday-Friday 8.30am/9am to 5pm. The family is open the possibility of additional hours for overtime as mutually agreed or changes to the schedule.
  • The start date is flexible, with the ideal candidate able to begin as soon as the family finds the right long-term fit.

The Family

  • This warm, thoughtful family is seeking a caring nanny to join their home and be a steady, loving presence for their baby boy while helping them navigate the first year of parenthood. One parent works from home full-time, and the other works in the medical industry with hours that can vary from week to week. They value open, clear communication, feedback both ways, and a collaborative, low-drama partnership.
  • This is a family that is honest about still figuring things out, and is looking for someone who is supportive, non-judgmental, and insightful as they grow in their parenting journey.
  • There is a very friendly, 30lb dog in the home who loves people; no pet care is required, but the ideal nanny is dog-friendly and comfortable having a pet around during the day. The family lives close to a local library and enjoys the idea of walks, story time, and simple neighborhood outings as part of the daily rhythm for their son. For commuting purposes, the home is in central Astoria, easily walkable to the N, W, R & M trains as well as locally served buses (Q101, Q19, M60 & Q69).

The Role

  • This is a full-time nanny position focused primarily on loving, attentive, developmentally minded care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing consistent, nurturing care throughout the day, including feeding, diapering, and supporting nap routines.
  • Creating a calm, secure environment that aligns with the family’s preferences around sleep, routines, and soothing strategies.
  • Engaging him in age-appropriate activities: tummy time, reading, songs, sensory play, and early learning through play.
  • Taking walks and occasional outings, such as to the nearby library for story times or quiet exploration, as appropriate.
  • Light child-related tasks, such as washing bottles, tidying play areas, and handling laundry as needed.
  • Simple light meal prep or snack prep for him especially when the weaning stage arrives.
  • No driving or swimming is required as most activities will be local and walkable. This role also involves working harmoniously with a WFH parent, being comfortable with occasional passing interactions while still maintaining primary focus on the infant’s routine and needs.

The Child

  • There is one infant, 10 months old, a sweet and curious little boy who currently takes two naps per day. He is at a fun stage of development—exploring, engaging, and beginning to show preferences and personality—so someone who loves narrating the day, reading, singing, and getting down on the floor for playtime will be a great match.

The Pay

  • Hourly Rate: around $35-40 per hour
  • Employment Type: W-2
  • Benefits Include:
  • Standard paid time off
  • Paid sick days
  • Weekly OMNY pass
  • Additional benefits consistent with a professional, long-term W-2 arrangement

You

  • You are a warm, emotionally intelligent nanny who genuinely loves supporting infants through their early milestones and partnering closely with parents. You understand that every family’s approach is unique, and you meet that with curiosity, respect, and flexibility rather than judgment.
  • You have strong English language skills—both spoken and written—clear communication is one of your superpowers. You’re comfortable checking in, asking thoughtful questions, and giving gentle feedback when needed. You appreciate families who do the same in return and see open dialogue as the foundation of a healthy, long-term working relationship.
  • You are comfortable working in a home where one parent works remotely. You know how to strike the right balance between being warm and friendly with a parent popping in and maintaining boundaries and structure for the infant’s routine. You can gracefully navigate moments when the child sees a parent and needs a bit of settling afterward.
  • You are vaccination-friendly, and because one parent is immuno-suppressed, you are open to receiving or maintaining an up-to-date flu vaccine as part of being considerate about health and safety in the home. You are also CPR-trained or willing to update your certification.
  • One parent is of Chinese heritage, so any Mandarin speaking skills are welcomed but not a strict requirement.
  • Most of all, you are looking for a long-term partnership with a kind family where you can watch a baby boy grow into a thriving toddler, be appreciated for your insight and care, and feel like a trusted, respected professional in the home.
