About The Role

As a Full Time Medical Assistant (MA) in our Medical Assistant department, you will play a key role in supporting providers and ensuring a smooth, efficient patient experience. This hourly, full-time position combines hands-on clinical responsibilities with essential administrative duties, requiring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to prepare patients for visits, assist with procedures, and maintain accurate medical records in a fast-paced clinical environment.


What You'll Do

  • Greet and prepare patients for examinations, including verifying information, obtaining vital signs, and documenting chief complaints
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor office procedures while maintaining patient comfort and safety
  • Accurately document patient history, medications, allergies, and other relevant clinical information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, injections, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing in accordance with training and protocols
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly set up before and after patient visits
  • Coordinate patient flow to optimize provider schedules and minimize wait times
  • Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients as directed, ensuring understanding and appropriate follow-up
  • Schedule appointments, manage referrals, and assist with prior authorizations as needed
  • Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Follow infection control, safety, and quality standards, including proper handling and disposal of biohazard materials
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and inventory of clinical supplies and equipment
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to support quality improvement initiatives and a positive patient experience


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
  • Current Medical Assistant certification/registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) preferred or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or clinical setting preferred
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation and administrative tasks
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, vital signs, and standard clinical procedures
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform clinical duties for extended periods, and lift or move patients and equipment as required by the role
  • Fluency in English, with clear verbal and written communication skills
