Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Support clinical procedures such as medication administration, X-ray assistance, and basic life support (BLS) protocols.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient information accurately and securely.
- Conduct ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and record-keeping.
- Assist with specimen collection, wound care, and other clinical tasks in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Support hospital experience requirements by assisting in areas like the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics clinics, or Level I/II trauma centers as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to safety standards.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, coordinating appointments, and ensuring a positive experience throughout the visit.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in various specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, or hospital medicine.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and documentation.
- Experience with EHR systems and familiarity with ICD coding is required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; additional certifications like X-ray or medication administration are a plus.
- Prior hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers highly desirable; experience in emergency medicine or OR settings is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of outpatient and inpatient workflows across different medical disciplines including geriatrics, medical-surgical units, PICU, or Geriatrics clinics.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence.
