Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage and benefits through insurance verification processes, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
• Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) codes, and other medical coding standards
• Communicate effectively with insurance companies to obtain pre-certifications and authorizations for various procedures and treatments
• Maintain detailed records of all collected documentation, correspondence, and authorization statuses in accordance with medical records management protocols
• Collaborate with medical offices and other healthcare facilities to gather required information promptly
• Ensure adherence to all HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards throughout all processes

Experience

• Prior experience working in a out of network medical office environment highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of Urology managed care processes, insurance verification procedures, and medical coding including CPT, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records management practices
• Experience handling insurance claims processing or pre-certification activities is advantageous
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
• Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance and confidentiality protocols
