Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Patrol Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within Springfield Township in Summit County.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or incidents and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • Enforce laws and regulations while maintaining a visible presence to promote safety within the community.
  • Document incidents and prepare reports detailing observations and actions taken during patrols.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to ensure a coordinated response to security issues.
  • Provide assistance in conflict management situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of loss prevention strategies to minimize theft or damage within the area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • MUST BE OPOTA CERTIFIED, OR CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN AN ACADEMY.
  • Experience in law enforcement is highly desirable, but not necessary.
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert and focused during shifts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with the public and team members.
  • A background in militarized training is advantageous but not mandatory.

Job description

This is a full time patrol officer position located in Springfield Twp. in Summit County, Ohio. We are looking to fill the position right away. Responsibilities:
- Enforce laws and regulations to maintain public safety and order
- Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect criminal activity
- Respond to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents
- Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses
- Arrest and process suspects according to legal procedures
- Write detailed reports and maintain accurate records
- Provide assistance and support to victims of crime or emergencies
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and professionals

Experience:

-Accepting lateral transfers
- Previous experience in law enforcement or related field preferred
- Knowledge of criminal justice system and laws
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
