Young Men and Women In Charge (YMWIC) Foundation, Inc. is an Upward Bound and non-profit organization founded in 2007 designed to support and expose youth to higher education opportunities. Through academic tutoring and mentoring, we support and empower students in grades 3 - 12 who are economically disadvantaged or underrepresented to excel and become leaders in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers. Our goal is accomplished through academic tutoring and mentoring. Funding is provided through grants, alliances with K-12 school districts, universities, corporations, private donors, and financial assistance programs.
Current Positions Available for the following chapters:
1.. Position #1: Responsible for the Delaware County Region Chapters.
2. Position #2: Responsible for the Montgomery County Region Chapters.
3. Position #3: Responsible for the Philadelphia County Region Chapters.
The Project Coordinator role reports to the Project Coordinator Supervisor
The Project Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for the coordination of after-school and summer programming for the YMWIC Upward Bound or YMWIC OST Programs. The Full-Time Program Coordinator will work with families, community partners and school administration to facilitate the implementation of workshops and activities for youth and their families.
Candidate must have proven experience:
1. administering academic and college readiness activities for middle and high school youth.
2. working with middle and high school youth in an education capacity in a school setting as a teacher, counselor and or administrator.
3. performing recruitment and retention tasks within youth programs.
4. extensively using Microsoft word, excel and outlook.
Key roles and responsibilities of the Full-Time Program Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as the liaison between the parents, Scholars and the Executive Director.
- Oversee the education and tutoring services administered to Scholars.
- Input and maintain important data within data system and tools.
- Executes timely communication to all cohorts about program activities, events, and program-related changes.
- Perform liaison tasks with school district personnel on behalf of Scholars to ensure that YMWIC has accurate and up-to-date academic information.
- Ensure that policies and procedures relative to YMWIC are followed by each Scholar.
- Oversee academic progress with each Scholar and implement intervention(s) where needed.
- Capture Scholars’ academic progress reports for oversight and intervention tasks.
- Oversee the execution of the program curriculum.
- Capture Scholar workshop and program activity attendance and ensure that records are accurate and up to date.
- Oversee the planning, preparation, execution, and management of the YMWIC Chapter Summer program.
- Follow Conflict-of-Interest and Confidentiality Policies.
- Retention: Monitor retention; Implement retention mitigation procedures and tasks
- Recruitment: Execute multiple recruitment activities to ensure program meets specified requirements and goals.
- Supports the implementation and coordination of STEM programming.
- Coordinates and supports full-time direct-service staff with the implementation and facilitation of program activities.
- Works with Operations and Development Team to ensure Scholar data is collected and recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Supports special projects that include local and regional events.
- Establishes collaborative relationships with community-based organizations, partner school district principals and counselors, institutions of higher education and other public/private agencies serving the surrounding community.
- Attends relevant training including funding meetings and professional development training.
- Supports YMWIC’s Strategic Planning and Program Development Goals and Objectives.
- Supports coordination and implementation of school year programming.
- Maintains regular communication with parents regarding student enrollment and progress.
- Establishes and maintains business relationships and rapport with Chapter High School and Middle School Principals and Counselors to ensure that YMWIC is viewed as a valuable partner.
- Establishes and maintains good rapport with key stakeholders within the High School and Middle School for grades relative to supporting the mission of YMWIC Foundation, Inc.

- Knowledge and understanding of the targeted community needs and demographics.
- Understanding of legal criteria for issues such as confidentiality, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mandated reporter requirements.
- Ability to provide a nonviolent intervention with a high level of ethical standards of conduct, cultural sensitivity and within appropriate boundaries and limits.
- Ability to effectively use standard office equipment and tools with confidence.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community.
- Ability to operate a computer and use a variety of common software programs including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and customized databases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively communicate with individuals and groups.
Experience, Education, and Licenses
Minimum Experience: Five to ten years of youth development experience. Experience working with Scholars who are in the LatinX, and African American community. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Compensation: $ 55,000 - 58,000 per year w/ 401K, Health, Dental and Vision
