Full-Time Public Works Laborer

Job Summary
New Cumberland Borough is accepting applications for full-time employment in the Public Works Department to work 40 hours per week, plus overtime as needed. We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Public Works Laborer to support municipal infrastructure and community services. This role involves performing a variety of manual tasks related to maintenance, repair, and construction within parks, facilities, infrastructure, and roadways. The ideal candidate will be physically capable, reliable, and committed to maintaining safe and efficient public facilities.

Duties

The successful candidate must be able to perform basic mechanical skills and be proficient with the use of hand and power tools. They must be able to operate heavy equipment as specified by the Borough. The position requires considerable standing, walking, frequent lifting of 50 pounds, occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds, frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, climbing, balancing, reaching, pushing and pulling. Able to operate vehicles and equipment related to the construction industry including but not limited to dump trucks, snowplow, backhoe, and other related equipment and tools.

Experience

Must be able to work in all types of weather including inclement conditions such as extreme heat or cold, rain, snow or ice. Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent and a valid Driver's License with CDL preferred. Minimum 1-3 years of related construction or landscaping work desired.
