Full-Time Retail Sales Associate / Social Media Coordinator

Location: The Music Shop – 56 Fanny Rd, Boonton, NJ 07005 (On-site)

About the Role

The Music Shop is seeking a friendly, motivated Full-Time Retail Sales Associate / Social Media Coordinator with a passion for music and strong communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. This unique role blends customer-facing retail responsibilities with creative content development to promote The Music Shop and its offerings.

The ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with customers, has strong computer skills, possesses knowledge of musical instruments and products, and is confident in creating and posting content across social media platforms. This role requires 40 hours per week including some Saturday availability.

Responsibilities:

• Retail Sales & Customer Service
  • Provide excellent customer service, especially during peak hours with high foot traffic
  • Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, and an inviting storefront
  • Process transactions and operate the cash register
  • Stay up to date on product knowledge and new inventory
• Content Creation & Social Media
  • Create engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
  • Promote store departments, events, and new products across platforms
  • Design graphics and marketing materials using Canva or similar tools
  • Capture in-store photos and videos for social media use
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to develop and execute content ideas

Qualifications

• Retail Experience
  • Previous retail experience required (music retail preferred)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of musical instruments, accessories, and equipment
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectively
  • Self-starter with a passion for music and helping others
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and product knowledge
  • High School Diploma required; degree in Music or related field is a plus
• Social Media & Technical Skills
  • Experience with Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
  • Ability to create high-quality, visually engaging content
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools
  • Basic computer skills, including typing proficiency
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Ability to learn new software and platforms quickly
  • Photography and videography experience is a plus (not required)

Compensation

This is a full-time, onsite role at The Music Shop in Boonton, NJ. Pay will be in the range of $20-25 per hour, commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:
