Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Secondary Science Teacher to instruct students in Cambridge Lower Secondary Science (Stages 6–9) and High School IGCSE and Advanced Placement science courses.
The ideal candidate is passionate about cultivating scientific thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving while building strong conceptual foundations that prepare students for advanced science study. This teacher will support students in developing the analytical skills, mathematical fluency, and laboratory competence necessary for success in IGCSE and AP-level coursework.
Cambridge Lower Secondary Science (Stages 6–9)
- Teach integrated science aligned with the Cambridge Lower Secondary framework.
- Develop foundational understanding across biology, chemistry, and physics strands.
- Introduce structured laboratory skills and scientific investigation practices.
- Prepare students for progression into IGCSE science courses.
- Prepare students for science fair
High School IGCSE Courses
- Teach IGCSE Chemistry.
- Teach IGCSE Physics.
- Prepare students thoroughly for Cambridge external examinations using syllabus objectives, past papers, and mark schemes.
- Develop strong conceptual understanding alongside structured exam preparation.
Teach AP Chemistry.
Clubs & Electives:
PSIA -- Private School Interscholastic Association preparation
STEM classes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Science or a Teaching Certificate for Secondary level in Science
- Ability to teach two subjects, i.e. science and math and take on an elective
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills and knowledge of Google Classroom and Microsoft Office experience would be a plus
- Work well with children, parents and other staff members.
- Ability to connect the concepts/topics to Islam.
Responsibilities:
- Create and teach lessons that are congruent with students' educational needs in the areas of science and math using resources provided.
- Keep abreast of current events and incorporating these events and themes into lessons to make them more relevant to students.
- Collaborate with other staff to develop lesson plans, teaching strategies, and interventions as needed.
- Ensure all curriculum, school, and state requirements are met.
- · Submit lesson plans, quizzes, tests the Friday prior to week of instruction
- · Encourage participation within the classroom to promote the consolidation of learning content.
- · Prepare students for formal and informal assessments.
- · Grade tests, pop quizzes, assignments, exams, and other assessments in a timely manner
- · Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in regards to Science/math curriculum.
- · Communicating with parents, students, lead teacher, and administrator regarding underperformance and other concerns while respecting cultural differences.
- · Conduct parent conferences three times a year and attend two other school events throughout the year
- · Attend secondary school staff meetings, teacher in-service days and events throughout the year as needed
Schedule
Monday through Friday 7:45 am - 3:45pm CST.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
