Full Time Summer Camp Teacher

Pay: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Program Dates: June 8, 2026 – August 14, 2026

Location: In Person – Portland, OR

As a camp teacher, you will lead engaging activities, foster a safe and inclusive environment, and inspire children to explore their interests while developing essential skills. Duties

  • Supervise and actively engage with children throughout the day
  • Lead and facilitate age appropriate activities and group games
  • Assist with planning and implementing daily programming
  • Support sports, athletics, arts & crafts, theater, and recreational activities
  • Facilitate guided group activities and classroom flow
  • Ensure the safety and well being of children at all times
  • Support children’s social-emotional growth through positive behavior guidance
  • Assist during meal and snack times while monitoring dietary needs
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding student needs or concerns
  • Support transitions, daily routines, and overall program organization
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures, licensing standards, and program policies
  • Model professionalism, teamwork, reliability, and strong communication
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and program operations

Qualifications

  • Active Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR) number
  • Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or tutoring settings is highly preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
  • Ability to handle behavioral challenges with patience and effective behavior management techniques
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as special education training or child care credentials are a plus
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, parents, and children effectively
  • Enthusiasm for working outdoors and engaging in physical activities like sports coaching or outdoor games

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with diverse learning or behavioral needs
  • Theater, performing arts, or enrichment experience
  • Previous leadership, administrative, or program coordination experience

State Requirements

  • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR) prior to first day
  • Completion of required health and safety trainings:
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Food Handler’s Card

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to bend, kneel, sit on floors, and actively engage with children
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
